How to practice with silent metronome bars
When the click disappears for one or more bars, you must hold the tempo without an external reference and check it when the click returns.
Prepare a stable reference
Play several bars with the click before enabling silence. The goal is to remember the distance between beats, not guess when the metronome will return.
Start with a groove you can play comfortably and a low probability of silent bars.
Increase difficulty gradually
Set four warm-up bars and a 20 or 25 percent silence chance. Once you return accurately, extend the silence or change the subdivision.
- Do not make a sudden correction when the click returns.
- Notice whether you tend to rush or drag.
- Record short sessions to compare results.
- Practice fills and transitions as well.
Evaluate the return
If you meet the first beat, your internal time remained stable. Landing early usually means you rushed; landing late means you slowed down.
The Drums Engine internal-time mode automates silent bars and keeps private session statistics.
